Tool Design

We were given dimensions for a part which needed to be moulded from polypropylene and polystyrene. These two materials had been selected for their contrast in properties.

Using the same mould we needed to make the simple part from the two materials. Our success was judged on how easily the parts came out of the mould, how well they fitted together and how close to the specified dimensions the mouldings were.

Cosmos Stress Analysis

In the course of my studies I have used many technical analysis techniques including FMEA, static stress analysis, motion analysis and design optimisation.

Technical Drawings

For all of my design projects I have produced technical GA and detail drawings to BS8888. Mainly I have produced drawings in Solidworks but I also gained experience drawing in AutoCAD during my placement.
